Enlisting help makes the job go faster, allowing her revisit the Lodge, her old friends, and one very upset Sam that much quicker. And as such, Barrett wants a favor, one where the outcome makes Lilu question everything all over again. Finally, a knock on the door portends a worst case scenario for Lilu, at first blush. It’s only the first harbinger of many to come.

Lilu has become Starborn, and it has broken her heart. What else might be different in how the universe plays out over time? One thing that wasn’t different: her rage when she sees the one person to whom she can assign the blame for being there in the first place.
